Come Sunday
featuring jazz vocalist Patrice Williamson
A 2nd Wednesday Concert at the New School of Music
“Patrice Williamson isn’t a singer, she’s a one-woman jazz sampler… She is a woman of many voices, each distinctly intriguing, all distinctly her own.” – JazzTimes
Patrice Williamson is performing a live, intimate concert at the New School of Music on Wednesday, February 8th at 7pm. This concert will be a short musical journey of Patrice Williamson’s favorite, ”TOP 10″ , black female singers. Spirituals from Mahalia Jackson, blues from Bessie Smith, Dinah Washington, ballads from Billie Holiday swinging songs from Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, bebop tunes from Betty Carter and Carmen McCrae and sweet melodies from Nancy Wilson and Dianne Reeves. Patrice says “each of these ladies hold a special place in my heart in helping me to become the singer I am today”.
The 2nd Wednesday Concert Series is a showcase for the talents of New School’s performing artists and local guest musicians. The concert series offers the community an opportunity to experience a wide spectrum of music, including classical, jazz, pop and folk in the intimate setting of our 1883 wooden school house. We invite the community to sit back, relax and join us for this delightful concert series. A full concert schedule and additional information about the musicians and the New School of Music can be found at http://www.newschoolofmusic.
