On Friday, November 7th, Cambridge Local First and Cambridge city officials marked the end of Local Economy Week in front of City Hall. In 2010, the City of Cambridge declared Cambridge to be a “Local Economy Community” and established an annual “Local Economy Week” to celebrate the hundreds of diverse locally owned and independent businesses in Cambridge.
City officials in attendance included Mayor David Maher, City Councilors Dennis Carlone, Leland Cheung, Timothy Toomey, and Nadeem Mazen, as well as Chris Basler from the Community Development Department. Cambridge Local First was represented by Frank Kramer, Co-Chair and former owner of Harvard Bookstore, Gerry Wolf, former owner of 1369 Coffee House, Michael Kanter, owner of Cambridge Naturals, Jessica Mangenello, co-founder of New Leaf Legal, and Executive Director Carrissa Blackburn.
